Putman Vance Jones, 80, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Carol Jean Joyce Jones, died Tuesday afternoon, April 5, 2016, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Columbus, Georgia, he was a son of the late James Rufus Jones and the late Cora Taylor Jones. Putman was of the Baptist faith. He was a United States Army veteran. Putman was a retired clerk for CSX Railroad. He loved his family, his friends, and was an avid fisherman.
Surviving are his wife of almost 36 years, Carol Jean Joyce Jones of Savannah, Georgia; seven sons, Bryan Manna and his wife, Raychelle, of Denver, Colorado, Jack Jones and his wife, Abbie, Joey Jones and his wife, Audrey, Mark Jones and his wife, Donna, Chris Jones and his wife, Shea, and Putt Jones and his wife, Sabrina, all of Savannah, Georgia, and Todd Everett Jones, M. D. of Gainesville, Florida; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney. Interment, with military honors, will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
