PO1 Edward 'Ed' E. Burkhalter, U. S. Navy (Ret.), 68, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Brenda Elizabeth Herring-Burkhalter, died Tuesday evening, October 3, 2017, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Toombs County, Georgia, he was a son of the late William Conrad Burkhalter and the late Blanche Brunell Morris Burkhalter. Ed was a member of Bible Baptist Church and a former member of Montgomery Presbyterian Church. He retired from the United States Navy Optical Division. Ed later worked with maintenance for Oglethorpe Mall. He enjoyed spending time with his family and fishing.
Surviving are one son, Chris Sinclair and his wife, Renee, of Savannah; one daughter, Angie Nguyen and her husband, Tuan, of Melbourne, Florida; three grandchildren, Emily Sinclair, Crystal Sinclair and Paris Nguyen; one sister, Wanda Strickland and her husband, Dennis, of Guyton, Georgia; one niece; four nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o\'clock Friday morning at Bible Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Kelly McInerney and The Reverend Dr. John E. Rainwater. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - East.
