Phyllis Marie Akins Morris, 62, of Savannah, Georgia, and widow of Eddie Royce Morris, passed away Friday afternoon, May 5, 2023, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late William Daniel Akins and the late Bette Ann Coney Akins.
In her early years, she took baton, dance, and piano lessons. Growing up on Ilse of Hope was a blessing. She was a member of Isle of Hope Baptist Church. Phyllis was known on the Island as " The Rat Race Queen." After graduating from Savannah Christian in 1979She attended South College and received a degree in Medical Billing. She worked for several medical equipment companies here in Savannah. After being diagnosed with COPD, she became a homemaker. She was fondly known as the trailer park lawyers, tax advisor, and social worker. She was loving and a great person. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the opportunity to have known her.
She is survived by her children: Keri Ann Marie Lewis, Mindee Morris, and Royce Morris; grandchildren, Michael Washington, Abrianna Carmichael, and Lyla Morris; and her favorite seeeester Becky Akins.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM, Monday, May 22, 2023, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
