Phyllis Ann Wertz Green, 64, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Marlon Scott Green, died Thursday morning, July 1, 2021, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Clinton, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Reverend L. Allan Wertz, Jr. and the late Phyllis Lindamood Wertz. Ann was a former longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she served on the Church Council and was formerly Director of Christian Education. Ann graduated from Morristown Hamblen East High School in Morristown, Tennessee, and attended Armstrong Atlantic State University in Savannah. She was a board-certified cosmetologist for 42 years. Ann formerly managed Glenby Hair Salon at Sears and then founded and operated Ann Green's Styling Salon for over twenty years. She continued to work and serve her clients during her years-long health battle. Ann was a devoted daughter, wife, sister and aunt. She was passionate about her family and friends, and her clients, many of whom became lifetime friends.
In addition to her husband of thirty years and her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Robert William 'Bob' Boyden; an aunt, Nancy C. Wertz, and an uncle, James B. Shealy.
Survivors include two sisters, Mary Catherine Wertz Shearouse of Bluffton, South Carolina, and Sarah Elizabeth 'Libby' Wertz Boyden-Price and her husband, Steven, of Savannah, Georgia; three nieces, Ansley Catherine Shearouse, Brittany Elizabeth Boyden and Megan Wertz Boyden; her uncle, the Reverend John E. Wertz and his wife, Cheryl; her aunt, Dr. Mary Ann Wertz Shealy; cousins, the Reverend John E. Wertz, Jr, and his wife, Kris, Robert A. Wertz and his wife, Liz, Mary Wertz West and her husband, Jeremy, James B. Shealy, Jr. and his wife, Amy, and Benjamin L. Shealy and his wife, Danielle; and her extended family, Bill and Peggy Boyden, and Janet L. Boyden.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Tuesday evening, July 6, 2021, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, July 7, 2021, at Messiah Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
