Born in Tupelo, MS, Phil moved to Atlanta, GA with his parents and brother around 1950.
He signed up with his best friend for military service in the Army National Guard from 1969 to 1975, and became an expert rifleman.
His father and uncles had a musical quartet, so Phil grew up surrounded by music. He loved all types of music, but especially the blues, true to his family’s Mississippi roots, and enjoyed playing guitar and harmonica.
His other loves were snow skiing and cycling. Phil took numerous trips with The Atlanta Ski Club and logged many miles with Atlanta cycling groups, up into his sixties.
Phil started his own company, The Williams Group, around the 1970’s/80’s, representing various artists (illustrators, painters, photographers) for commercial work nationally.
His next career as an Atlanta residential real estate agent took him to Jenny Pruitt & Associates, which merged with Harry Norman Realtors, and Phil retired in Savannah in 2015. His later years unfortunately brought on heart issues and dementia, and he passed away April 22 nd from heart failure. The skilled surgeons and staff at Memorial Health Hospital were key in maintaining his quality of life as long as possible. Additionally, Hospice Savannah played a considerable role in keeping him comfortable in his final months.
Phil had many friends who were like family to him. Loved for his easygoing nature, he had a reputation as a man of integrity and role model of a truly good guy. He is survived by his wife of 20 years, Donna DeAngelis of Savannah, his first wife, Melanie Williams of Atlanta, as well as numerous sister- and brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews.
