PFC Donald Gold, United States Marine Corps (Ret.), 66, of Pooler, Georgia and husband of Carolyn Kent Gold, died Tuesday morning, September 1, 2015, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in New York City, New York, he was a son of the late Jack Gold and the late Alice Catherine Hargrove. Mr. Gold attended Savannah Church of God. He retired from the United States Marine Corps where he served two tours in Vietnam. PFC Gold was wounded during combat and received the Purple Heart. He later retired as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Mr. Gold loved his family, leather working, and gardening.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Carolyn Kent Gold of Pooler, Georgia; one daughter, Leah Gold of Savannah, Georgia; two step-daughters, Arema Walker and Tesha Walker; one step-son, Melvin Jerome Kent of Savannah, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Alice Luesylvia Joshua and her husband, Eugene, of Savannah, Georgia, Leah Bracy and her husband, Alfredo, and Joan White and her husband, Errol, all of Cary, North Carolina, and Catherine Litzsey and her husband, Hezekiah, of Grapevine, Arkansas, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Friday, September 4, 2015, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Delpherd L. Barksdale. Interment, with full military honors, will be at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Glennville.
