John Felton 'Pete' Causey, 89, died peacefully in Wilmington, NC on January 30, 2017. Pete was a long-time resident of Savannah, GA.
Pete was born in Kyrock, KY and moved to Newnan, GA as a child. He would tell you he had a wonderful life and recount his adventures in school, service, and Corp of Engineers work. The highlight of his adventures was a beautiful brown eyed girl named Rachel Kennedy whom he met at West Georgia College. She became his wife and was the love of his life for 65 years. She went to be with the Lord in August of 2016 and Pete has now joyfully joined her.
Pete is survived by his two daughters and their husbands, Fran Causey Smith and husband, Jerry, and Rachel Lynn Roland and husband, Jim. Pete has always been proud of his six grandchildren: April Smith Bunn and husband, Beau, Captain Jason T. Smith, USMC, Lora Smith Roberts and husband, Alan, Daniel Felton Smith and wife, Marie, Elizabeth 'Libby' Causey Wright and husband, James, and John Tice and wife, Laura. Pete also had five great-grandchildren that he loved dearly: Jason Bunn, Nathan Bunn, Nevaeh Ensey, Anna Roberts, and Tess Roberts.
He was also blessed with bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Heather Roland Emrich and husband, Jim, with their daughters Grace and Amelia, Chelsea Brooke Roland and her daughter, sweet Emmy, and PFC Alex Foley.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Saturday morning at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the graveside, Hillcrest Abbey ' West, conducted by The Reverend John A. Haney.
