AUGUSTA, GEORGIA - Penelope "Penny" Constantine, 90, of Augusta, Georgia and formerly of Savannah, Georgia, died Tuesday afternoon, June 22, 2010, at Brandon Wilde Life Care Community in Evans, Georgia.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Sam Constantine and Jacqueline Vescopoulos Constantine. Miss Constantine was a member of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church in Savannah and she formerly worked for the United States Corps of Engineers for 43 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Eva Constantine Nicholson, Pauline Constantine and Marie Constantine.
Surviving are two nephews, Sam G. Nicholson and his wife, Susan, and Christopher G. Nicholson and his wife, Cecelia, all of Augusta, Georgia, and two nieces, Elaine N. Paul and her husband, Mike, of Augusta, Georgia, and Jacqueline N. Swain and her husband, Mickey, of Charleston, South Carolina.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church, Savannah, conducted by Father Vasile Bitere of Augusta, Georgia. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Ms. Ruby Tutt who was Penny's loving caregiver for many years. The family would also like to thank the health care providers at Brandon Wilde and Trinity Hospice.
