Peggy Joyce Newham Egan, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday morning, December 1, 2021, at Azalealand Nursing Home and Rehabilitation.
Born in Hazlehurst, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Lankford 'Buddy' Newham and the late Almeadie Decatur Riner Newham. Peggy was a communicant of the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. She graduated from Savannah High School. As a military wife she raised her four sons into the men they are today. She later retired from New York Life. Peggy volunteered many years at Rose of Sharon and then at Memorial University Medical Center. To her, family was everything.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Mary Egan and Marie Egan.
Surviving are four sons, Michael A. Egan and his wife, Danise, of Fair Oaks, California, Mark A. Egan and his wife, Kaye, of Savannah, James L. 'Jimmy' Egan and his wife, Celena, of Savannah, and Jerome Keith Egan and his wife, Mary, of Brooklet, Georgia; and ten grandchildren, Sarah Egan Crozier and her husband, F. J., Kaia Egan West and her husband, Michael, Emily Egan, Christian Egan, Hunter Egan, Brian Egan, Hailee Arbogast, Nathan Arbogast, Logan Egan and Colton Egan.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2021, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock Saturday afternoon, December 11, 2021, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Joseph A. Smith. Interment will be private.
