Pearl Janet Maiden Rains, 92, of Midway, Georgia, and widow of Harold Eugene Rains, passed away Saturday afternoon, July 30, 2022, at Buckingham South.
Born in Whitley County, Kentucky she was a daughter of the late George Craig Maiden and the late Georgia Ann Sears Maiden. She was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University where she obtained her teaching degree and later, she obtained her master's at Armstrong State College.
She married the love of her life in 1954 and they enjoyed the Army life until they retired and made Savannah their home. Pearl retired from the Savannah Chatham Public School system (Windsor Forest Elementary) and then went on to teach at Diamond Elementary at Ft Stewart.
Pearl loved her family and was happiest when she had all of them under one roof enjoying a meal, she lovingly prepared. When Pearl wasn't cooking, she was busy quilting, gardening, bird watching and reading.
Pearl was very active in the church and taught Sunday and vacation bible school at Windsor Forest Baptist Church & also Fleming Baptist Church.??
Survivors include one son, George D. Rains and his wife Suzie of Midway, Georgia, two daughters, Janet R. Taylor and her husband, Joseph, and Connie R. Ward and her husband, Tim, both of Savannah, Georgia. She has seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to thank Jestine Grant and Val Daniels for their loving care and devotion to Pearl over the last five years.
A private funeral service will be held at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
