Paul Dennis Downing, Sr., 75, of Savannah, Georgia, died Tuesday afternoon, May 24, 2022, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, he was a son of the late Dennis Thomas Downing and the late Norma Deal Downing. Paul was of the Catholic faith. He was a United States Army veteran. Paul graduated from Benedictine Military School and attended Armstrong Junior College. He was a retired Parts and Sales Director in automobile sales. Paul was a member of the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee, Knights of Columbus Council #631, and several other Irish organizations.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his live-in girlfriend of 22 years, Janie R. Edenfield, and his sister, Lynne Downing.
Survivors include his son, Paul Dennis Downing, Jr. and his partner, Craig Dinerman; one sister, Sharon Lysaught and her husband, Orville, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 o'clock, Friday evening, May 27, 2022, at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Saturday afternoon, May 28, 2022, at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by the Reverend Joseph A. Smith.
