SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Nicolas Bertrand, 25,??of Savannah, Georgia, son of Dannie D. Shiver, Joel Vernon Bertrand and the late Barbara Ann Shiver, died Sunday afternoon, June 14, 2009, at Candler Hospital.
Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he was a son of Dannie D. Shiver, Joel Vernon Bertrand and the late Barbara Ann Shiver. Nicolas was a member of Southside Baptist Church and worked for Panera Bread Company in Savannah. He was a member of the Celtic Soccer Association of Savannah and was an avid runner who ran in many of the marathons in Savannah. Nicolas was currently attending Savannah Technical College. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Noel F. Shiver, Betty B. Shiver and Meryl Bertrand, and his maternal grandfather, Joe Schafersman.
Surviving are his fathers, Dannie D. Shiver and Joel Vernon Bertrand; one sister, Ashley Shiver Blitch and her husband, Jud, of Augusta, Georgia; one brother, Jordan Shiver of Savannah, Georgia; his grandmothers, Christa Kroll Schafersman of Hinesville, Georgia, and Joan Bertrand of Kansas City, Missouri; one aunt, Vera Mobley and her husband, Ronny, of Hinesville, Georgia; three uncles, Noel Bernie Shiver and his wife, Vickie, of Adel, Georgia, Dr. Ronnie L. Shiver and his wife, Brenda Joy, of Valdosta, Georgia, and Bernd Hoyer of Germany, and thirteen cousins, Christina Varnedoe and her husband, Carl, of Macon, Georgia, Travis Mobley and his wife, Brittney, of Hinesville, Georgia, Brent Bloser, Kathryn Shiver Surrency, Nathan Buckley Shiver, Brook Shiver, Austin Bloser, Jade Bloser, Ethan Surrency, Atley Surrency, Mary Mobley Vernedoe, Cooper Mobley and Gunner Mobley.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o\'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o\'clock Thursday morning in Southside Baptist Church conducted by The Reverend Dr. Allan W. Bosson.?? Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
