SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Newton Thomas "Tommy" Fife, 60, of Savannah, Georgia, husband of Sandra McKay Fife, died Sunday evening, May 8, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Tallulah, Louisiana, he was a son of the late Ogburn W. Fife and the late Lillie C Fife. Tommy served his country in the United States Army and was in Vietnam for one year. He worked at Savannah Pet Cemetery for nine years with his sidekick, Tiki and he lived in Bloomingdale for twenty years. Tommy was a very hard working man and whatever he did he did to the fullest and he will be dearly missed by all.
Surviving are his wife, Sandra McKay Fife of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Frances E. Fife, of Canada; two sons, Newton T. Fife, Jr., of Canada, Phillip A. Fife, of Rincon and one grandson, Levi A. D. Fife whom he dearly loved; two sister in-laws, Donna Buttersworth and her husband, William, Brenda M. Cross; one brother in-law, Eddie McKay and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o' clock Sunday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue. Interment will be private.
