Nathan Siegel, 95, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Miriam 'Mickey' Lasky Siegel, died Sunday afternoon, October 26, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family and under the care of Gentiva Hospice.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, he was a son of the late Jacob Siegel and the late Emma Friedman Siegel. Mr. Siegel was a member of Congregation Bnai Brith Jacob. He was a United States Army veteran having served in World War II with the 10th Armored Division. Mr. Siegel earned his undergraduate degree and was an avid fan of the University of Alabama, and earned his Master's degree in Sociology from New York University. He was a member of the JEA and a founding member of the Kibbitzers Club. Mr. Siegel was a retired traveling salesman who enjoyed helping his wife, Mickey, with her business, Jefri's Dress Shop.
In addition to his wife,??parents and two brothers, he was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Lee Siegel.
Surviving are one daughter, Barbara S. Schwartz and her husband, Dr. Philip G. Schwartz, of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Dr. Alex M. Siegel and his wife, Lauri, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Emily Treuhaft and her husband, Mosi, Julia Schachter and her husband, David, Samuel Schwartz and his wife, Rachel, Lee Schwartz, Michael Siegel and Zachary Siegel; eight great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 4 o'clock Monday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by Rabbi Avigdor Slatus.
