Nanthalee “Nan” Coursey Hiott

June 11, 1926 — December 12, 2023

Nanthalee “Nan” Coursey Hiott, 97, of Midway, Georgia, widow of the late William Sebren Coursey and Albert “Bud” James Hiott, died Tuesday December 12, 2023.

Born in Savannah, Georgia she was the daughter of the late John David Ward and the late Florence Ada Black Ward. Mrs. Hiott was a member of Coastal Christian Church. She and her sister, Bertha, were welders on the Liberty Ships. Mrs. Hiott retired after 23 years from Union Bag (now Union Camp) as a bagger. She later worked more than 25 years for Wendy’s in Richmond Hill. Mrs. Hiott volunteered for years at Midway Nursing Home and was named a WTOC Hometown Hero. She loved her church, her family, sewing, and playing the guitar.

In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, Louise Ward Still, Bertha Ward Brown, Marie Ward Collins, Edna Ward Black, Roberta Curl and Elizabeth Bell.

Survivors include three daughters, Rosemary Celeste Coursey Prindaville and husband, Tom of Alpharetta, Georgia, Nanthalee Annette Coursey Keller and husband, Steven of Midway, Georgia and Debra Dukes and husband, Jerry of Albany, Georgia; three grandchildren, Erich Wald and wife, Mary Beth, Nanthalee Wald and Steven C. Keller, and one great-granddaughter, Rowan Keller.

The family will receive friend from 1 until 2 o’clock Tuesday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Ave., Savannah, Georgia.

The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock Tuesday in the Chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by the Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, Savannah, Georgia.
