Myrtice McLeighton Coursey, 96, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Daniel Isaac Coursey, died Wednesday morning, August 20, 2014, at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation Center and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
She was born in Baxley, Georgia on April 8, 1918, the daughter of the late Robert McLeighton and the late Harriet McCall McLeighton. Mrs. Coursey lived in Savannah most of her life.
She entered the work force upon graduating from Baxley High School, obtaining positions in life insurance, a library, and with the Union Camp Paper Corp in Savannah. She retired in the early 1980's from the Personnel Division of Union Camp after more than 40 years of service.
She attended the First Baptist Church of Baxley and was later active in the Ardsley Park Baptist Church in Savannah. ??She taught Sunday school over seventy years.
She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.?? The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Jonathan K. Tillman and The Reverend Buddy Clay. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey - West.
She will be greatly missed by all of us who loved her dearly.
