SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Myrna Harrell Martin, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, wife of Charlie Luther Martin, died Thursday evening, January 26, 2012, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
Born in Tarboro, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Luke Harrell and the late Frances Alford Harrell. She was Miss Tarboro, North Carolina in 1949 and was a top ten runner up for the Miss North Carolina Pageant. Mrs. Martin was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, former adult Sunday school teacher, Relief Society president in Virginia and was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Lance Corporal Jared L. Almand.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Charlie L. Martin of Savannah; two daughters, Renee Sink of Lexington, NC and Tamara Martin Heaton of Savannah; two sons, C. Lynsey Martin of Savannah and Chet Martin of Aptos, CA; six grandchildren, Sara Martin of Savannah, Larkin Martin of Savannah, Justin Almand of Savannah, Ryan Sink of Lexington, NC, Debra-Gail Martin of San Jose, CA, and Dr. Christopher Martin of San Francisco, CA; one great-grandchild, Jersey Sink; sisters, Frances Abrams of Tarboro, NC, Julia Surles of Sarasota, FL; brothers, Stanley Harrell of Tarboro, NC, Buster Harrell of Fort Hood, TX. and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Bishop Thompson. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
