MSgt Robert 'Bob' Lee Maxey Sr., U.S. Air Force (Ret.), 93, of Savannah, Georgia and widower of Louise Ludford Maxey, died Saturday morning, March 31, 2018, at Effingham Health Systems.
Born in Watkinsville, Georgia, he was the son of the late Clarence T. Maxey Sr. and the late Susie Mae Maxey. Bob was a member of Bible Baptist Church since August 26, 2012. He retired from the U.S. Air Force as Master Sergeant and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the USS Suwannee. Bob also retired from Gulfstream after 22 years. He was an avid hunter (aka 'Buggywhip) and fisherman. He was a regular attendee at the Quickshot Gun Range where he had many good friends.
Surviving are his daughter, Candy Barefield and her husband, Chuck, daughter, Robin Sitton and her husband, John; son, Bobby Maxey Jr. and his wife, Wendy, son, Dickey Maxey; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; brother, C.T. Maxey Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 10 until 12 noon Thursday morning, April 5th, 2018, at Bible Baptist Church ' 4700 Skidaway Road.
The funeral service will be held at 12 noon Thursday April 5th, 2018, in Bible Baptist Church conducted by Pastor Kelly McInerney, Pastor Herbert Hubbard and Dr. John Rainwater. Interment will be at Greenwich Cemetery with full military honors.
