MSG Juan \"Papi\" Rios Guzman, U.S. Army (Ret.), passed away on August 25, 2013 at 5:20 p.m. in the presence of his family.
Originally hailing from San Juan, Puerto Rico, Juan was a world traveler before he finally ended up in Savannah. He was a member of the U.S. Army for 27 years, during which he moved all around Europe and Asia and served two tours in Vietnam.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Dorotea \"Peepop\" Rios; his three daughters, Mrs. Dora Traynor-Coberly and her husband, Mark, Mrs. Edna Hoyler and her husband, Joseph, and Mrs. Carmen Albertson; six grandchildren to include James Burkhalter, Sean Hoyler, Hannah Traynor, and Tyler Traynor.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 3 o'clock Saturday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be private.
