Monroe Sebon Durden, 76, of Dexter, Georgia and husband of Anne Elaine Barbee Durden, died Sunday afternoon, January 26, 2014, at Fairview Park Hospital in Dublin, Georgia.
Born in Laurens County, Georgia, he was a son of the late Ernest Sebon Durden and the late Eva Wood Durden McDade. Mr. Durden was of the Baptist faith and attended Immanuel Baptist Church in Savannah. He was a United States Marine Corps veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Durden retired as service manager for Terminix?? International.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, 'Baby Durden' and Monroe Sebon 'Sebie' Durden, Jr., and two sisters, Vera Durden Carter and Dorothy Jean Durden Dickerson.
Surviving are his wife of fifty years, Anne Elaine Barbee Durden, of Dexter, Georgia; one daughter, Alana Marie Durden Mann and her husband, Toby, of Marietta, Georgia; one brother, Ernest Franklin Durden and his wife, Joyce, of Locust Grove, Georgia, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue, Savannah.
The funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Ernest O. King, Jr. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
