Mildred 'Millie' Jessie Cook Madray, 84, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Richard Frank Madray, died Wednesday afternoon, December 23, 2015, at her home.
Born in Estill, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Hance Ford Cook and the late Jessie Terry Cook. Mrs. Madray was a member of Bible Baptist Church. For many years she drove a school bus for Bible Baptist Church and later for Chatham County Board of Education. Mrs. Madray was an avid bowler who loved being the family photographer. Nanny, as she was known to her grandchildren, adored her family and was a loving and caring 'stay at home' grandmother.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Aubrey Dean 'Dino' Madray; her two sisters, and her two brothers.
Surviving are one daughter, Denise Turner and her husband, Tom, of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Dwayne Madray of Charleston, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jessie Turner, Taylor Turner, John Clinton 'J. C.' Madray and Christopher Madray; one sister, Betty Mixon of Hampton County, South Carolina, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the graveside, Forest Lawn Memory Gardens, conducted by The Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett.
