Mildred Anchors Harvey, 73, of Savannah, Georgia, died Wednesday afternoon, September 13, 2017, at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Oliver Thomas Anchors, Sr. and the late Ruth Ivy Walsh Anchors. Mildred was a lifelong, active member of Calvary Baptist Temple. At Calvary, she was a member of the choir for more than 20 years, where she also played the hand bells. Mildred was an accomplished seamstress who made most of the costumes at Calvary for the Living Christmas Tree and the Passion Play. She retired after more than 30 years as a Certified Surgical Scrub Tech in the Operating Room at Memorial University Medical Center and Candler Hospital. Mildred was faithful to her church, family and friends, and was an avid reader who also loved to cook.
Survivors include her daughter, Deborah H. Dixon and her husband, Kirk, of Savannah, Georgia; her step-son, James V. Harvey, Jr. of Savannah, Georgia; her granddaughter, Elizabeth Hannah Dixon; one brother, Oliver Thomas 'Tom' Anchors, Jr. and his wife, Hazel, of Savannah, Georgia; one niece; two nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a number of cousins, and her three grand dogs.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at Calvary Baptist Temple conducted The Reverend B. Derward Poole, Jr. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
