In the early morning hours of June 14, 2022 Michael Earl Weatherly passed away holding the hand of his daughter while surrounded by many of his furry friends. He bravely fought cancer for many years. He was born in Savannah, Ga to Isaac Walter Weatherly and Nellie Mae Grant on September 19th 1951. At age 3 he won first place in the Savannah Baby Show. Daddy grew up on Tybee Island and played baseball for the Tybee Crabs. He worked at the icehouse as did all of his brothers. Daddy won third place in a yo-yo competition in fifth grade. He played the trombone in elementary and middle school. He attended Savannah High School and was a football player in the 10th grade. He was a member of the Savannah High School Blue Jacket marching band and played the sousaphone. He was also a football player his sophomore year. In 1970 he attended his senior year at Johnson High School and earned his high school diploma. He lived in Las Vegas, NV and Clearwater, FL. He came back to his hometown of Savannah to retire.
He had a love for astronomy and was often found researching through books about the solar system. He loved to look at minerals under the microscope. He was well educated in marine life as well. People often admired his 300 gallon saltwater tank and he was so very proud to show it. Daddy loved chocolate ice cream so much he had a spoon with his name engraved on it. He also liked a nice glass of bourbon. Daddy was a jokester. He would tell a joke so straight faced you didn\'t know if he was kidding or not. I still think there\'s a toe in the trunk of my car but he swears the tow truck came and got it. He always had a compassionate heart for cats. He loved them dearly. Daddy could often be found in a recliner loving on a sick kitten. It broke his heart to know a kitten needed help. He would stop whatever he was doing to help a baby in distress. Daddy was a simple and compassionate man. He loved to listen to Yanni, Roger Whittaker, and Willie Nelson. He enjoyed watching Wheel Of Fortune, Jeopardy, America\'s Got Talent and The Masked Singer.
