It is with great sadness that the family of Michael T. Lepper II announces his death at home in Savannah, Georgia, in the early hours of December 23, 2021, at age 67.
He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 17, 1954 and was the son of the late Michael T. Lepper and Joanne K. (Wilcher). He married the late Susan Matthysse in August 1990 and they were parents of two children. He was a retired jewelry executive and small business owner.
Mike attended Public School #35 and graduated from Manual High School, Class of 1973. He was a registered gemologist.
To know him was to love him and he had a large circle of friends who enjoyed his many fun stories and just being with him.
Mike had a strong work ethic and began his career at Baer's Clock Shop as an apprentice at 10 years old and purchased the business at age 18. This set the stage for his future career and he opened and operated The Treasure Chest in Indianapolis and Brownsburg, Indiana. Through his years in Savannah, he worked at Sterling Jewelers and Friedman Jewelers in executive positions and opened The Treasure Chest. He acquired Carriage Jewelers while in Savannah as well as Savannah Gems Int'l. before retirement.
He was the former President of the Downtown Business Association, and former Parish Council President, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. He was an active member of the Savannah Elks Club.
Mike leaves behind his parents, Joanne and Charles Fox of Indianapolis, Indiana; his daughter, Kaitlin Clifton (Sarah) of Savannah, Georgia; his son, Andrew of Denver, Colorado; his twin grandchildren, Lilly and Tyler Clifton of Savannah, Theresa (Hank) Moore, Mary Anne (Jack) Pain, and his brother, Christopher (Kristina) Lepper, all of Indianapolis.
A memorial service will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning, January 6, 2022, in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue. Interment will follow in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
