Merrill Aubrey Speer

ALMA, GEORGIA - Merrill Aubrey Speer, 63, of Alma, Georgia, husband of Martha Carol Speer, died Thursday afternoon, March 4, 2010, at Riverview Health and Rehabilitation.
Born in Charleston, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Roy Speer and the late Julie Brockington Speer.  Mr. Speer was a United States Army Veteran having served his country in Vietnam. He was of the Catholic faith and worked in management for many years. Mr. Speer enjoyed music and was a lifetime musician that performed in many of the areas nursing homes. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frances Cambell, Doris Connolly and his brother Harold Shokes.
Surviving are his wife, Martha Carol Speer, of Alma, Georgia; one daughter, Ashley Julie Speer Crooms and her husband, Jason, of Jacksonville, Florida; two sons, Michael Jason Speer, of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Preston Colby Spivey, of Ludowici, Georgia; two grandchildren, Anthony and Kyle Crooms; cousin, Buck McKnight and a niece Susan Brouseau.
The funeral service and interment will be private.
