Melvin Robert Chisholm, 95, of Savannah, Georgia, died Saturday morning, December 21, 2019, at his home.
Born on St. Helena Island, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Mannie Chisholm and the late Florence Chisholm Chisholm. Mr. Chisholm was a member of Central Missionary Baptist Church ' Historic District/Old Fort. He was a United States Coast Guard veteran having served in World War II. Mr. Chisholm earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from what is now known as Savannah State University. He was a retired banker with Williamsburg Savings Bank in Brooklyn, New York. Mr. Chisholm was devoted to his family and enjoyed traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosa M. Glover; his brother, James Chisholm; his nephews, Morris Chisholm, Samuel Chisholm, Jerome Glover and Reginald Hancock; his niece, Annette Glover; his great-niece, Diane Marie Murray Grant, and his traveling partner, William D. MacCallan.
Survivors include his nieces, Jeannette G. Murray, Carolyn Davis, Lillian Chisholm, Diedre MacCallan and Barbara T. Johnson; nephews, James Calvin Murray and Gerald M. Murray, and Morris, Sammy, and Annette's children, as well as great friends.

The funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 10 o'clock Friday morning, December 27, 2019, at the graveside, Hillcrest Abbey West, conducted by the Reverend Gerald Frazier.
