SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Melba Holladay Strickland, 89, of Savannah, Georgia, and formerly of Claxton, Georgia, died Tuesday morning, November 30, 2010, at Azalealand Nursing Home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Chatham County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Robert L. Holladay and the late Veradell Victoria Robinson Holladay. Mrs. Strickland was of the Baptist faith and was a retired banker. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two daughters, Jo Marie Lundin and Patricia "Patty" Ann Dennis.
Surviving are one son, Robert "Rick" Davis and his wife, Anne, of Harvest, Alabama; one brother, Robert L. Holladay of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Thursday morning at the graveside,
Lower Lotts Creek Church Cemetery in Bulloch County, conducted by The Reverend Dr. David C. Laughner.
