SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Maude Starling King, 87, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of George R. King, died Thursday evening, December 16, 2010, at her home under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Born in Live Oak, Florida, she was a daughter of the late William Robert Starling and the late Blanche Flora Carroll. Mrs. King was a member of Parkway Church of Christ and a former member of Bull Street Church of Christ. Mrs. King was retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was a member of the National Association of Federal Retired Employees.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Robert L. King and her three sisters, Bertie Mae Boyette, Luvenia Meyer and Gertrude Cheney.
Surviving are one son, Richard B. King and his wife, Rebecca, of Savannah, Georgia; her daughter in law, Betty King, of Riverview, Florida; three brothers, Robert C. Starling of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, William R. Starling of Live Oak, Florida, and Gilford E. Callahan of Palmer, Tennessee; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 o'clock Sunday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by Clay Johnson. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
