SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mattie Brownlee Wimberly, 90, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Harvey Wimberly, died Tuesday evening, March 9, 2010, at Candler Hospital.
Born May 18, 1919, in Pickens County, Alabama, she and her late husband moved here in 1955. Mrs. Wimberly was a member of St. Paul CME Church where she was a member of the "Willing Workers". She was a former member of Bailey Tabernacle CME in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Mrs. Wimberly was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse for Memorial Health University Medical Center.
Survivors include five nieces, Doris Morse, Rita Roberts, Lola Terrell, Wilda Dean Lynn and Betty Jean Walker; five nephews, Almus Cherry, Henry Cherry, Martin Cherry, Roy Cohen and Lester Clark; one brother-in-law, George Sullivan, and a special friend, Sandra Dunham.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 until 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the graveside, Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Da'Herni R. Thurmond.
