Mary Lind Medlock Powell, 91, longtime resident of Huntsville, Alabama and widow of Rex Burnham Powell, died Tuesday morning, November 30, 2021, at Spanish Oaks Retreat in Savannah, Georgia. She and Rex enjoyed 64 years of marriage.
Born in Opelika, Alabama, she was a daughter of the late Olin Campbell Medlock and the late Minnie Lee Lasseter Medlock. Mrs. Powell earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics from Auburn University. She was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church in Huntsville. Mrs. Powell will be remembered as an excellent seamstress, cook, and gardener. She loved everything about the home.
Surviving are her daughter, Lind P. Hollingsworth and her husband, Ernie; her son, Craig M. Powell; two grandchildren, Jill Hollingsworth Jenkins and her husband, Josh, and Justin Hollingsworth and his wife, Noel Strapko; two great-grandchildren, Birdie Jenkins and Phoebe Jenkins; her sisters, Ann Bray and her husband, Don, and Jane Shelor and her husband, Neil, and nieces and nephews.
A reception will be held at 11 o'clock Saturday morning, December 11, 2021, at First Presbyterian Church - 307 Gates Avenue SE, Huntsville, Alabama.
Interment will take place at 12 noon, Saturday, December 11, 2021 at Maple Hill Cemetery ' 203 Maple Hill Drive, Huntsville.
