SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mary Clyde Lynch Peeples, born July 2, 1919, in Savannah, Georgia, and died on Friday morning, September 18, 2009, at Hospice Savannah. Mama is absent from the body and present with her Lord. She was the daughter of the late John William and Mary Clyde Lynch.
She was married to Gordon Peeples, Sr. in 1936. Without her knowledge, he had chosen her when she was twelve years old. She chose him when he was twenty-three. They were separated on this earth in 1986, after 50 years of marriage.
Dr. Newell Turner planted the seed of God's word in her heart when she was a child. Others watered, and God gave the increase.
She and Daddy gave their hearts to Jesus Christ in 1947 at the Salvation Army. She served there as the Young People's Sergeant Major until 1959. Her young people held a special place in her heart through the years. She never forgot them or their names.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is pre-deceased by a grandson, Matthew Thomas Peeples and daughter-in-law, Margaret Cooper Peeples; seven brothers, Sam, Launey, Charles, Earl, Lee Olen, John and Jim Lynch; and two sisters, Pauline Lynch and Geneva Dickey.
Surviving are her son, Gordon Peeples, Jr. (Carolyn) of Pooler; her daughter, Patty Peeples of Savannah; a brother, Robert A. Lynch of Savannah; a grandson, Jeffrey Gordon Peeples (Stella) of Alpharetta, Georgia; a granddaughter, Leigh Ann Kaman (Brian) of Richmond, Virginia; great-grandchildren, Savannah Leigh Peeples, Benjamin Mark Kaman, Samuel Cooper Kaman, and Margaret Grace Kaman.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Sunday at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service with The Reverend Gary Johnson and Jeffrey Peeples officiating. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park - East.
Pallbearers will be nephews: Bobby, Wayne, Richard, Steven and Lonnie Lynch.
