Mary Elizabeth Murphy

Mary Elizabeth Murphy, 91, of Savannah and formerly of Sun City Center, Florida, died early Monday morning, October 19, 2015 at The Habersham House, Savannah, Georgia.



Born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Murphy. Ms. Murphy was a communicant of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in New Bedford, Massachusetts. She was a 1944 graduate of Framingham Teachers College and a 1948 graduate of Yale University where she received her masters' degree. After graduating college, Ms. Murphy went to work with the United States Department of Public Health traveling throughout the United States. She retired to Sun City Center, Florida where she lived for many years before moving to Savannah a few months ago.



Surviving are her brother, Robert 'Bob' Murphy of Savannah; her niece, Kathleen A. Price; and a nephew, Daniel Aloysius Murphy and his wife, Connie Wright.
