SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mary Theresa Szuch Lukas, 84, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Michael Lukas, died Thursday morning, December 2, 2010, at Hospice Savannah.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on September 5, 1926, Mary was the daughter of the late Frank and Margaret Szuch. Mrs. Lukas was a communicant of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist in Savannah. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, John Lukas; her sister, Elizabeth Martinek, and her brother, Alexander Szuch.
Mary retired from Citizen General Hospital as a cook for over 30 years. She was an avid cook and baker. Mary loved to cook up a dish for any kind face.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Vicki Lukas of Savannah; her granddaughter, Alexandria Lukas; her grandson, John Lukas, and her sisters, Jay Ross of Piqua, Ohio and Margaret Morvai of Mansfield, Ohio.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Friday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist conducted by Monsignor William O. O'Neill. Interment will be at 10 o'clock Monday morning in St. Mary Cemetery in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, conducted by The Reverend John A. Izral.
