SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mary Grace Harvey Harrod, 79, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Walker Theodore Harrod, Jr., died Friday afternoon, September 17, 2010, at her home.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Robert Fitzgerald Harvey, Sr. and the late Veronica Augros Harvey.  She and her family moved to Savannah when she was an infant. Mrs. Harrod was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and a former communicant of the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist and Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She was a devout Catholic of strong faith. Nanu, as she was known to her family, was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid gardener and known by all for her wide array of beautiful plants. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Harrod was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Harrod, and three sons, Walker "Robbie" Harrod, Jimmy Harrod and Andrew Harrod.
Surviving are one daughter, Lynn Harrod Smith and her husband, Craig, of Savannah, Georgia; two sons, Gary Harrod and his wife, Nancy, of Savannah, Georgia, and Michael Glenn Harrod and his wife, Tara, of Groveland, Georgia; two granddaughters, Brittney Harkins and Megan Harrod; two grandsons, Raymond Horton and Patrick Harrod, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the Rosary being held at 6 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Monday morning in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross.  Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
