Mary Lou Henry Clayton, 87, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of LeRoy Donald Clayton, Jr., died Thursday afternoon, March 18, 2021, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Key West, Florida, she was a daughter of the late William Henry and the late Mary Katherine Rentfro Henry. Mrs. Clayton was a member of Bible Baptist Church where she and her husband taught the 4-year-old girls Sunday school class for more than 40 years. She was also very active in the puppet ministry at her church. Mrs. Clayton was a retired executive secretary for Rives Worrell Construction Company. She enjoyed spending time with her family, active with seniors at her church and in our community, reading, and working in her yard.
In addition to her husband of 50 years and her parents, she was preceded in death by her twin sister, Katherine Ann Henry, and her brother, Robert Earl Henry.
Surviving are two daughters, Judy Diane Clayton Perry and her husband, Steve, of Rincon, and Donna Marie Clayton Brown and her husband, Troy, of Richmond Hill; five grandchildren, Gregory Perry, Jonathan Perry and his wife, Anna, Virginia Ellen Perry, Jessica Marie Staley, and Taylor Nicole Brown; two great-grandchildren, Nora Autumn Perry and Willow Mae Perry, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o\'clock Monday, March 22, 2021, at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o\'clock Tuesday afternoon, March 23, 2021, at Bible Baptist Church conducted by the Reverend Thomas W. East, Jr. and the Reverend Kelly D. McInerney. Interment will be in Bonaventure Cemetery.
