Mary McGregor Grovenstein Branson, 94, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of V. Edgar Branson, died Monday morning, August 7, 2017, at Candler Hospital.



Born in Miami, Florida, she was a daughter of the late Erling Grovenstein and the late Lois O'Keefe Nesbitt Grovenstein. Mrs. Branson was a longtime active member of Life Church at Ardsley Park (formerly Ardsley Park Baptist Church) where she was a member of the Grace-Fidelis Class. She graduated from St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Atlanta. Mrs. Branson was a registered nurse for 10 years at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta and later at Egleston Children's Hospital at Emory University. She was a homemaker who loved spending time with her family and playing bridge.



In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew 'Andy' Taylor Barnes.



Surviving are one daughter, Mary Lois Branson Barnes and her husband, Bryson Scott Barnes; one son, Mark Edward Branson of Altamonte Springs, Florida; six grandchildren, Mary M. Barnes, Rebecca Barnes, Naomi Barnes, Matthew Barnes, Timothy Barnes and Michael Barnes; one sister, Lucy Ann McNeill Moore; one brother, Erling Grovenstein, Jr., and several nieces and nephews.



The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Wednesday at Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue.



The funeral service will be held at 10 o'clock Thursday morning at Life Church at Ardsley Park conducted by Pastor Jon K. Tillman and Associate Pastor Buddy Clay. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
