SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Mary Edna Gattman Berry, 84, of Savannah, Georgia, widow of Edward Joseph Berry, Sr., died Saturday afternoon, July 9, 2011, at Buckingham South.
Born in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late William Bryan Gattman and the late Lula Morris Gattman. Mrs. Berry was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She retired after more than 25 years of service as a secretary for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers. She was a member of the American Legion Post 184 Auxiliary in Thunderbolt. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William Gattman.
Surviving are one son, Edward "Eddie" J. Berry, Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Johns Island, South Carolina; two sisters, Katherine Hinely of Pooler, Georgia, and Peggy Findley and her husband, Demmond, of Savannah, Georgia; one granddaughter, Sarah E. Berry; five nieces and four nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock Monday at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue, with the Rosary service being held at 7 o'clock in the funeral home chapel.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning in Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church conducted by The Reverend Jeremiah J. McCarthy. Interment will be in the Catholic Cemetery.
