Mary Ann (Smith) Boone, 84, beloved mother and grandmother of Savannah, Georgia. She peacefully departed from this world on December 23, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.
Mary Ann was born December 4, 1939 in Savannah, Ga to Laliah Price Smith, and Arthur G. Smith she was a proud resident of Savannah, and was a 1957 graduate of Savannah High School.
She moved to California in the early sixties with her two boys Jimmy and Chris. She worked 20 years as an Information Technology Specialist for the California Air National Guard’s 129th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Group (ARRG) based at the Hayward Airport. She lived in Hayward, Fremont and Clovis, California. In addition to her full time job and raising her children she and her husband built a successful Real Estate investments portfolio. One of the favorite things she loved to do was being outdoors attending to her gardening. She returned to Savannah in 1995 to care for her beloved mother. She also worked for her brother Arthur (Artie) until his passing in 2008. She took over as proprietor of Arthur Smith Antiques “the shop” as it was called became her passion and labor of love. She strived to maintain the high quality of antiques that the shop was known for and to carry out Artie’s legacy. She had a great sense of humor and never lost her southern roots. Her California friends and family loved spending time with her. She would light up the room with her southern charm. The well being of her children was always her top priority above everything else. She loved them dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Christopher Randolph Darsey her sisters, Sara Jane (Smith) Stein and Helena (Smith) Brannen, brothers, Arthur G. Smith Jr and Lawrence (Larry) Smith. She is survived by her sons, Charles Jimmy Darsey, Raymond Todd Valderrama, granddaughter, Christa Kathleen (Darsey ) Smith, Christa’s three children and sister, Laliah Frances (Collins) Rockowitz.
Graveside Memorial services will be held at 4 January 2023 at 1:00pm at Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park East, 1600 Wheaton Street, Savannah. May her soul rest in eternal peace.
