SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Marvin Daniel Beacham, 89, of Savannah, Georgia, widower of Sara Mae Sipple Beacham, died Friday morning, June 19, 2009, at Habersham House.
Born in Newberry, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Daniel Lee Beacham and the late Mary Frances Carter Beacham. Marvin was of the Methodist faith and was a retired manager after thirty seven years with Union Camp Corporation. He graduated from Clemson Military College (now Clemson University) where he played football for two years. Marvin was a United States Army Air Corp veteran having served as a Major during World War II. During this time he was a supply officer for General Patton. Marvin served his country during World War II and was at the Battle of Normandy, Rhineland, Northern France and Central Europe. He received the European African Middle Eastern Theater Service Medal, the American Theater Service Medal, and the World War II Victory Campaign Medal. Marvin was a member of the German Heritage Society and a former member of the Civitan Club and the Lions Club.  He was quite a carpenter and was able to fix anything. Marvin was a very capable stain glass builder. He was a very patient and kind man who enjoyed his family. Marvin was particularly proud of his girls.
Surviving are two daughters, Jane Beacham and her husband, Dwight Cribbs, of Richmond Hill, Georgia, and Dr. Eleanor Beacham Eades and her husband, Dr. Jack Eades, of Savannah, Georgia; two sisters, Edna Frances Beacham Hipp of Newberry, South Carolina, and Hazel Lee O'Cain of Sumter, South Carolina; four grandchildren, Alison Lee Orne, Morgan Sipple Cribbs, Maddox Elizabeth Ruth Eades and Hannah Lee MacLennon Eades; one brother-in-law, Charles H. Sipple III and his wife, Sallylu, of Savannah, Georgia, and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 o'clock until 8 o'clock Sunday evening at Gamble Funeral Service, 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Drew Corbett.  Interment, with military honors, will be in Bonaventure cemetery.
