Martha Janis Gormley Cowart, 70, of Savannah, GA and widow of Terry Cowart, Jr., died Thursday evening, March 19, 2015, at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Augusta, GA, she was a daughter of the late Charles Gormley and the late Katie Potter Gormley. Mrs. Cowart was a longtime member of First Assembly of God. She was a sales associate for JCPenney for more than 35 years.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her daughter, Tammy Cowart Allard and her husband, MSGT Mike Allard of the 165th Airlift Wing, of Guyton, GA; her son, MCPO Terry DeWayne Cowart, United States Coast Guard, and his wife, Paula, of Cape May, NJ; seven grandchildren ' her one and only grandson, CPL Michael Terry Allard, U. S. Marine Corps stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, and six precious granddaughters, Amanda 'Mandy' Marie Allard, Ryann Elizabeth Cowart, Jessica Elizabeth Cowart Dowdy and her husband, Jeremy, Nicole Elizabeth Cowart Bicknell and her husband, John Stephen Bicknell IV, Hannah Elizabeth Cowart, and Victoria Rae Elizabeth Cowart; three great-grandchildren, John 'Jay' Stephen Bicknell V, Salem Elizabeth Dowdy, and Audrina Maelys Allard; two brothers, Alfred Gormley of Cedartown, GA and Patrick Gormley and his wife, Lavannda, of Augusta, GA, and many favorite nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o\'clock Sunday afternoon at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 11 o'clock Monday morning in the First Assembly of God conducted by The Reverend Cecil F. Gray, Sr. Interment will be Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
