Martha Ballou Caphton, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, and widow of Donald Lewis Caphton, passed away Wednesday morning, April 27, 2022, at Sunabella at Savannah.
Born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Edwin Samuel Ballou and the late Corine Manly Ballou. Martha spent her childhood and teenage years in Leesburg, Florida. She worked for several years as an economics professor and enjoyed reading, swimming, and taking care of her beloved cats.
Survivors include her nieces, Lois Caphton Cowart (Richard), Sharon Caphton Fruits; nephews, Warren David Caphton (Jeannie), Stephen Ross Caphton (Jeanie), Stanley Lloyd Caphton (Pam), and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 12 o'clock, Saturday afternoon, April 30, 2022, at St. George Episcopal Church ' 15 Willow Road, Savannah. Interment will take place in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
