Marion Eugene Hudson, 82, of Savannah, died Sunday morning, May 5, 2013,?? at Bryan County Health and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond Hill and under the care of Hospice Savannah.
Mr. Hudson was born in Aiken County, South Carolina, on August 22, 1930. He was a longtime resident of Savannah. He served his country in the United States Navy after graduating from Graniteville High School.?? He was a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America, attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and being inducted into the Order of the Arrow in 1946.?? He was a well-known and respected member of the petroleum equipment business for over 38 years.
Mr. Hudson was a charter member of the Georgia Tank and Equipment professional organization. He was also a long-time member of the Executive Association of Savannah. He was passionate about the game of golf. One of the most exciting moments of his life was when he shot a hole-in-one at LaVida on April 15, 1989.
Mr. Hudson was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Louise Walton Hudson, and by his parents, Amos Marion Hudson and Florine Follmer Hudson, both of Aiken, South Carolina.?? He is survived by his two daughters, Cheryl Puckett and her husband, Hollis, of Dacula, Georgia, and Lisa Gaines and her husband, Zeke, of Richmond Hill, Georgia; one son, Richard 'Rick' Marion Hudson and his wife, Susan of Leipsic, Delaware; six grandchildren, Daniel Boykin, Stacy Darracott, Laura Puckett, William Gaines and his wife, Kacie, Zeke Gaines IV, and Marshall Gaines; and two great-grandchildren, Rachel and Aiden Darracott.?? He is also survived by his sister, Eloise Culpepper, and his brother Roger Hudson, both of Aiken, South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 5:30 o'clock Monday, May 27, 2013, at White Bluff United Methodist Church.
The memorial service will be held at 6 o'clock Monday evening, May 27, 2013, in White Bluff United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend Deborah Wight-Knight. Inurnment will be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in Sunset Memorial Gardens - 2848 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, South Carolina.
