Marian Barnard, 91, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Murray K. Barnard, Sr., died Tuesday morning, July 4, 2023, at Azalealand Nursing Home.
Born in Blackshear, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Leroy Peacock and the late Clara Bell Bowen Peacock. Mrs. Barnard was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church where she was active in the Interfaith Hospitality Network and active in the Order of the Daughters of the King. Mrs. Barnard earned her Associate of Science in Nursing degree from South College and served as a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than 30 years in Savannah. She was most happy when she was caring for others, baking, gardening, reading, traveling, and sitting on the beach.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Barnard was preceded in death by her brother, Father Joseph Peacock.
Survivors include her four children; Murray K. “Butch” Barnard, Jr. (Sandy), Steven R. Barnard (Kay), Rebecca B. Gaudry (Alan), and Joseph C. “Joey” Barnard (Debra); eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and her sister-in-law, Betty McCuller.
The Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 12 noon, at Gamble Funeral Home, conducted by Reverend Peter J. Hartmann. Visitation will begin at 11am, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Coastal Empire Habitat for Humanity.
