Margaret Sue Driggers Hayman, 83, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Lester Linton Hayman, Sr. died Thursday afternoon September 22, 2022, at home with her family at her side.
Born in Savannah, Georgia she was the daughter of the late John Driggers and the late Elizabeth Oetgen Driggers. Mrs. Hayman was a member of Chapel-by-the-Sea Baptist Church on Tybee Island and a former member of Morningside and Calvary Baptist Churches. She was the former owner of Lester L. Hayman Funeral Home, Abercorn Florist, The Orchid Shop, Regal Limousine Service, and Ansa-Call Answering Service of Savannah.
Mrs. Hayman was an accomplished organist and pianist. She was formerly active with the Chatham Association for Retarded Citizens and was an interpreter for the Hearing-impaired community in the court system and other settings. Both she and her husband served as foster parents to numerous children across the area and were active in the local and state foster parent organizations.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Betty McElveen and Emma Futrell as well as her grandson, Hunter Iddins.
Survivors include her children; Lester L. Hayman, Jr. (Annette), G. Michael Hayman, Sr. (Pamela), William Glen Hayman, Brandi Iddins (Christopher), and Margaret Michelle 'Chellie' Hayman; grandchildren; Jessica Hayman, Michael Hayman, Jr., and Nicholas Iddins along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 o'clock Sunday afternoon September 25, 2022 at Gamble Funeral Service - 410 Stephenson Avenue.
The funeral service will be held at 1 o'clock Monday September 26, 2022 in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey East.
