Margaret Mary 'Marge' McGinn Friel, 90, of Springfield, Georgia and widow of James Gerald Friel, Sr., died Tuesday afternoon, September 6, 2016, at her home surrounded by her family and under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Daniel Patrick McGinn and the late Catherine Bridget Quinn McGinn. Mrs. Friel was a communicant of St. Philip Benizi Catholic Church in Jonesboro and attended St. Boniface Catholic Church. She was a loving mother and loyal friend. Mrs. Friel was an exquisite cook who loved to entertain friends and family often. She also enjoyed traveling, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are one daughter, Janet E. Wilson and her husband, Garry Lamar Wilson, of Springfield; four sons, Brian Friel of Forest Park, Georgia, James Friel, Jr. of Mansfield, Ohio, Daniel Friel and his wife, Danya, of Ooltewah, Tennessee, and Stephen Friel and his wife, Darlene, of Locust Grove, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Hannah Maloney and her husband, Patrick, Erin Wilson, Danny Wilson and his wife, Avory, Maddie Friel, Caitie Wilson, Quest Friel, Aydan Friel, Colin Friel and Megan Friel; one great-grandson, Danny Wilson II; one sister, Mary D'Aquila of Fort Pierce, Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 9 until 10 o'clock Saturday, September 10, 2016, at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist ' 222 East Harris Street in Savannah.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 o'clock Saturday morning in the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist conducted by Father Martino Nguyen. Interment will be in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
