Mable Louise Florence Thomas, 80, of Savannah, Georgia, died Sunday evening, July 17, 2016, at her home and surrounded by her family.
Born in West Point, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Kirby Washington Florence and the late Janie Woodruff Florence. Mable was the first female graduate of the welding class at Savannah Technical College and was a welder for 25 years. She then retired after 22 years with Walmart.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Stephens, and a grandson, Adam Kirby Dwayne Lester.
Surviving are four daughters, Gloria Lester and her husband, Larry, of Midway, Sandra Vincent, Paula Sanderson and her husband, Chris, and Windie Tumlin Smith, all of Savannah; one son, Wendell \"Skeeter\" Tumlin and his wife, Vickie, of Savannah; seven grandchildren, Christal Vincent, Amanda Vincent, Cody Sanderson, Cameron Sanderson, Michael Lester, Joshua Smith and Dustin Johnson; a number of great-grandchildren, and one sister, Cornelia Wolfe of Florida.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o\'clock Tuesday evening at Gamble Funeral Service.
The funeral service will be held at 10 o\'clock Wednesday in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service conducted by The Reverend Dr. Samuel W. Watkins. Interment will be in Hillcrest Abbey Memorial Park ' East.
