Lucia 'Lucy' Politelli Poole, 88, of Savannah, Georgia and widow of Robert Louis Poole, Sr., died Thursday evening, January 17, 2013, at Memorial University Medical Center.
Born in Naples, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Alberto Politelli and the late Silvia Baraini Politelli. Mrs. Poole was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church and was a homemaker, loving mother and grandmother. Her passions in life were being with her family and cooking Italian dishes. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Renato Politelli of Florence, Italy, Maria DeMartino, Ada Salerno, Vittorio Politelli and Guilio Politelli, all of Naples, Italy, and her son-in-law, Michael Neher of Woodstock, New York.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Poole Taylor of Savannah, Georgia, Ann Marie Poole Burdette of Pooler, Georgia, and Renee Poole Neher of Savannah, Georgia; one son, Robert Louis Poole, Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth, of Savannah, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Ranzo Joseph Taylor III and his wife, Lisa, Christopher Lee Burdette and his wife, Jodi, Gabrielle Marie Burdette, Michael Albert Taylor and his wife, Amy, Megan Marie Neher, Elissa Nicole Neher, Miles Alexander Poole, Joseph Louis Thomas and Madison Andrew Poole; seven great-grandchildren, Hailee Burdette, Caela Burdette, Taryn Burdette, Elijah Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Emily Taylor and Lucia Taylor, and several nieces and nephews.
The Rosary service will be held at 5 o'clock Monday afternoon in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service with the family receiving friends afterwards until 7 o'clock.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. James Catholic Church conducted by Father Mark J. Ross and Father Ronald Gatman. Interment will be private.
The family would like to thank Dr. Scott McGlynn for the excellent care that he gave their mother.
