LTC Dr. Daniel Lawrence 'Larry' Sweeney, U. S. Army (Ret.), 62, of Savannah, Georgia and husband of Suzanne 'Susie' Harper Sweeney, died Saturday evening, January 30, 2016, at Candler Hospital.
Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, he was a son of the late Raymond Thomas Sweeney and the late Lois Malan Sweeney. Larry graduated from The State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo Dental School. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel after 23 years of service in the United States Army. After retirement, he was a contract dentist at Hunter Army Airfield.
Surviving are his wife, Suzanne 'Susie' Harper Sweeney of Savannah, Georgia; one daughter, Catherine Sweeney Thomas and her husband, Luke, of McDonough, Georgia; one son, Daniel H. Sweeney and his wife, Janet, of Savannah, Georgia; two grandchildren, Collin Thomas and Grayson Thomas; one brother, Robert Malan Sweeney and his wife, Gail, of Shawano, Wisconsin; one niece and one nephew.
The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 11 o'clock Tuesday morning in the chapel of Gamble Funeral Service ' 410 Stephenson Avenue. The family will receive friends after the service. Interment will be private.
