LTC Jean Cassity Kennedy, United States Army (Ret.), 69, of Savannah, Georgia and wife of Lyndal Ray Kennedy, died Wednesday evening, November 11, 2015, at her home.



Born in Covington, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Ray Cassity and the late Bertha Irene Banks Cassity. Jean was an active member of Wilmington Island United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Open Circle Sunday School Class, the Interfaith Hospitality Network, and Heart and Hands Quilting Ministry. She received her undergraduate degree from Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky and her graduate degree from Georgia State University. Jean retired as a Lieutenant Colonel from the United States Army, where she earned the Legion of Merit award. She was a member of the Military Police Retired Officer's Association. Jean later retired as a school teacher having taught physical education to all grades during her teaching career. She enjoyed quilting, needlework, and was active in sports.



In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Donald Ray Cassity.



Survivors include her husband of 35 years, Lyndal Ray Kennedy of Savannah, Georgia; one step-daughter, Shannon Nicole Magri and her husband, Victor, of Lubbock, Texas; two step-grandchildren, Jack and Emma Magri; one brother, Jesse Dwight Cassity and his wife, Jeanie Marie, of Rome, Georgia; one niece, Kate Banks Duffey and her husband, Ken, of Athens, Georgia; one nephew, Lewis Meek Cassity and his wife, Tamson, of Yellow Springs, Ohio, and numerous cousins.



The family will receive friends from 12 until 12:45 o\'clock Monday afternoon at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church - 195 Wilmington Island Road.



The funeral service, with full military honors, will be held at 1 o\'clock Monday afternoon at Wilmington Island United Methodist Church conducted by The Reverend James C. Sapp. Interment will be private.
