SAVANNAH, GEORGIA - Erline Louise Reynolds Freeman, 88, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, July 2, 2009. Burial will be private. Friends and relatives are invited to A Memorial Reception at the home of Richard and Linda Slonim on Sunday, July 5, 2009, from 2 pm - 4pm.
Louise was born in Charleston, SC on April 8, 1921, to the late Frank Smyth Reynolds and the late Erline LePrince Reynolds. Maternal grandparents were Emile Kanapaux LePrince and Julius A. LePrince; paternal grandparents were Mary Frances Smyth Reynolds and Thomas Henry Reynolds. In addition to her loving parents and grandparents, Louise was blessed by the presence of four special aunts, Lucile V. LePrince, Julie E. LePrince, Stella LePrince Jennings, and Marie LePrince Farmer, all deceased.
Surrounded by family and friends, Louise was raised and educated in Charleston, graduating from Bishop England High School. She attended nursing school at the St. Francis Hospital Nursing Program until her marriage to the late Captain Gilven M. Slonim, USN. Her second husband was the late D. "ST" Freeman.
A retired medical transcriptionist, Louise will long be remembered for her sense of humor and quick wit. Intelligent and well read, she conversed with a wide variety of people on any topic under discussion. It has been said that Louise never met a stranger. She was also a talented oil portraiture artist who delighted her family with paintings that future generations will continue to cherish.
Louise is survived by her children Richard G. Slonim and his wife, Linda, David R. Slonim, and Patricia Slonim Gordon and her "adopted" son, Roger "Joe" Guy as well as grandchildren Suzanne Michelle Gordon, Michael Chad Gordon, and Matthew G. Slonim.
The family suggests memorials be made to the John Ancrum SPCA in light of the many animals she cherished through the years.
